So what did you all think of Sommer's assignment??
I think it is a cool way to get a point across to the house guests ( and us ! ) acting out and exaggerating things!
People pleasing IS exhausting and you are not being true to yourself.
I like Sommer
She's gonna be fine

What a way to see what you are acting like! She really felt the burden of her actions. As is so many times true, the person people pleasing, just ends up annoying people. As my husband says, I can do that myself!! Okay, let him, I say

2cents-er:
You say: "you are not being true to yourself" when yo are a People Plesaser. What if this is what you know of yourself? What if you have never done it anyhing other way? Wouldn't that be "true to yourself"?

You can want to help others, that is fine. I think it's a problem when you ignore your own health and feelings in the process.

Although, I know when I focus on others, my troubles don't seem so bad. Is that a healthy or unhealthy step? I think that is a good thing to do. No self-pity. Just move on, right??

I agree hsmom when you put others further ahead of yourself then you are a people pleaser. I think it is like you are too afraid to let people see the real you.

Everything in moderation. Balance.
Of course it is good to do things for others....I don't think that is what Rhonda was trying to get at.
For instance....you know when people get burny out or resentful because they don't know how to say NO to someone when asked a favor. That's what I think she meant.
But when your own well being,or your family is neglected or you may resent the favor....you need to re evaluate.
The key is BALANCE my dears !!!
So keep on doing for others...we all should...and we all know in our hearts that is good and right......BALANCE !!
