Some believe that a father's influence, or lack thereof, can influence a person's life and the choices they make for themselves.

I think that is what she meant by what was said.

I think when our parents consider us worthless--when they put us down--when they tell us they have such low expectations of us, we, as children believe them. They are our parents afterall. Parents know everything when we are little.

Words used as weapons wound. Christina's father deeply wounded her. She became the girl he predicted.

I don't think Christina can put this blame on her father. My father said Many hurtful things to me and I tried to better myself and tell myself it wasn't true. There were times it got me down but, she needs to take responsibility for her own actions.

I am also wondering when Christina is going to show some real emotions. She smiles and laughs alot. She is holding alot in and I am wondering when she will explode? Or have her break through.

She made these choices as a teen. She left her house at 16. At 16 I sure didn't have great descision making skills either. There's a reason why teens are looked at as teens and not adults they have not developed enough to make adult choices.

Fron 16 on she didn't have the guidance of her parents and made poor choices. No she should not totaly blame her father but he does play a huge part in the choices she made.

It seems to me like she is trying to take responsibilty for things she has done. At 20 years old she is a lot more responsible than I was at that age.

Missed the show because of the news conference, but from the recap it seems like Iyanla is definitely planning on having Christina learn how she has made decisions for herself too. Yes, parents play a crucial part in childrens' development, but there is accountability they can learn as adults like many of us had to! And she is only 20 and just now learning....I think she'll get it! She certainly loves her son and I think truly wants a better life for him!
