I suffer from an anxiety disorder. I was curious if anyone else did and if some support here on the board could be set up.

Most days I do really well, but today was difficult and if someone else who had experienced anxiety was around to talk to it would be nice.

So if anyone would like to post and discuss some techniques they use or have heard of that would be nice.

Right now for me I am using guided relaxation before I go to bed to quiet the mind, but during the day I don't have any techniques yet.

Well thanks for any ideas.

I also suffer from an anxiety disorder. I have for most of my life. It hit me really hard when I was in my mid twenties and I became agoraphobic for three years. With help from my mom, I worked my way out of it, but it still limited my life. I couldn't travel by myself, stuff like that, and it was always with me in the back of my mind, wondering if I would fall back into having anxiety attacks.

I controlled it for about twenty five years and then my dad died (in Febuary). I got through the whole thing (he was at home and needed a lot of care) and then about three weeks after he died it hit me again. I was a mess. After a week of trying to control it, I gave up and went to my doctor. He put me on medicines and it was like a miracle, getting my life back. I have always strongly resisted medications, but now would strongly recommend them.

I hope this helps. It is a really terrifying thing to cope with, something people just don't understand unless they've been there. Please write back and let me know how you are doing. I truly understand.
