Austell Ga here. It's crazy. This morning gas, at my local station was $2.69...at noon $2.79...at 530pm $2.99. On my way home I saw a Chevron station charging $3.49. That's right $3.49. This is absolute gouging! Then the media (& I work for them) say that Atlanta is going to experience a shortage due to the disaster in the gulf, then they say there are broken lines. Of course everyone freaks so every gas station has lines out in the streets. So, HECK yeah, I'll boycott gas tomorrow, probably can't even get in the station anyway!

I agree we need to do something. The price hike in gas is going to affect the price of everything else we buy eventually. We will see price hikes in the grocery store, Wal-mart, etc. It effects everything. I won't be going to the pumps tommorrow. I am only driving when I really need to. I am lucky because I am close to everything I really need, schools, doctor, bank, stores, etc. Half the problem is all the panicky people lining up at the pumps. Increase in demand increases price all the more. I understand that the hurricane has a direct impact on our oil production, but this is outrageous. It is going to be an expensive year keeping our homes warm.

Want to say the idea of Boycotting Gas on Sept. 1 was around BEFORE Hurricane Katrina hit.

It's wild isn't it?...Like keeping on eye on someones rising bloodpressure! ..Yesterdayafternoon as I passed my gas station..it was 3.09...When I passed it again coming home it was 3.15..this morning 3.35 ..

I agree Supermom. My Aunt & I were talking about how the gas prices will effect buisness & everything will go up. This has been a problem for a while now! And it doesn't look like it's going to get any better.
