TOPIC: First Time Going To School

First Time Going To School 3 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Two of my grand children started school for the first time today. My daughter is heart broken that this milestone has come so quickly. I find myself wondering how these kids will do their first day away from home and family as well. A big part of me knows they will be fine but there is this what if part as well. They are stepping into a new phase of life. I just hope it goes well. Boy will this be a long day! You know I will be on the phone seeing how each child's day went . As far as trumatic I think it will be more trumatic for the parents .. and myself then the children ha ha.

BriarRose62 you are absolutley right today will be harder on you and your daughter than the kids. KIds are excited to grow up and feel big and we as Adults arent ready to see them grow up as fast as they do.

I know I am having a harder time with mine starting middle school than he is. It is hard to let children grow up and discover the world on their own but it is something we all must do . and from a teachers stand point those little ones do great on the first day of school. I often have more problems because of the parents reluctance to let go than the kids. They are scared because they sence their parents fears not because they are scared themselves.

Good luck hope your day isn't to long.

Thank you Teach . It helps knowing theres someone who both understands and is on the inside of the game as well. It is not easy sharing control over your child/grandchild's life for the first time.

How exciting, the first day of school.
I totally agree with teach. I remember being more nervous for my children than they were. My oldest child is 14 and he starts high school. Again I am more nervous than he is. It is a scary world and as they grow it is hard knowing they are spending more time with out your supervision. You just have to trust you taught them right, and that they will make the right decisions.
I have another son in 2nd grade. I cried the first day he got on the school bus for kindergarten, it wasn't easier the 2nd time around. I have a 4 year old and a two year old at home still, so I have some more tear filled days in my future.
I hope the day went well for your grandkids. Please post and let us know how it went.

I cried so hard when my first one went to school and then when my last one went to school. My dear first one, Bretton, cried with me because he didn't want to leave me and knew I would miss him. It is tougher on the parents than it is the kids, I'm thinking. They look so little and off they go.

I hope the first day went well, Rose. please let us know.

They do look so little don't they. My grandson had a great day but I did not see him. My daughter cryed her eyes out but my grand daughter waved bye over her shoulder. She said she learned to play, lunch and sang a song. She also made two new friends . I wish I could have been there to see both off. They are going to different schools.
Today will be a shorter and easier day. Thank you all for the support.
