I do know there are lots of women out there who are very shallow and focus nearly everything on their image. So much so, that they really struggle to find their own voice and not manipulate others by their beauty.

that's kind of shallow or at least judgemental in the opposite direction, don't you think? imo anyway. maybe you meant it as hyperbole, but the implication that "pretty" girls can't have brains/decent personality/anything else going for them...not a fair or realistic assessment.
i definitely agree though that they are too young and not ready for marriage!

I think that Jacylyn's age really has alot to do with her behavior and crying. I remember when I was first dating my husband and at the beginning of our marriage I cried alot more than I do now. You just don't see things as rationally in your early twenties as you do later in life.

sorry, i can't say i'm familiar w/the song, i was just thinking more along the lines of how the poster said she wasn't a super-pretty girl so was able to develop other attributes...you're right though, i could be taking it completely out of context.

 When I thought of the song, I wasn't thinking of the flirting, I was thinking of the kind of woman most men *really* want (and would go for) if they weren't worried about looks.
Jacklyn describes herself to be pretty on the outside but with nothing inside. Michael *seems* to really want something on the inside, yet he chooses a woman that is totally not at that place. But, I think Michael is realizing that he has his own work to do.
It reminds me of my single days. I'd have lots of guys tell me they'd married the "barbie", if you will, thinking they'd got a "prize" only to find out their marriage was a living h*ll. I'm certainely not stereotyping all women.  Just playing off Jacklyn's and Iyanla's conclusions in this particular situation. |
