Healing in the Truest Sense
(very fitting for myself & thought I'd share.)
John 5:8-9
A man had been crippled for 38 yrs. was near the healing pool called Bathesda in Jerusalem. Jesus asked the man, "Do you want to get well?" (verse 6) The man explained that he often came to the pool but was unable to get in because others barged ahead of him, leaving him lying on the ground. Hesus said, "Get up! Pick up your mat & walk." At that moment the man got up, seized his mat, & walked. He was healed.
The Jews said to the healed man that it was not lawful to carry his mat on the Sabbath. The man explained that he had just been healed & was told by the man who performed the miracle to pick up his mat & walk. Later, Jesus found the man at the temple & said, "See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you" (verse 14).
By ignoring the reality of our sin, which brings eternal death, we may think our worst problems are physical. But our gravest lls afflict our souls. Tough it is a gift of God, bodilyhealth is not Christ's greatest gift. Rather, His greatest gift is the forgiveness of sins & the promise of eternal life with Him. These eteranal gifts are ours through Jesus Christ.
Thank you God for healing us through Jesus from eternal destruction. Amen.
