I think you have people confused laura. Dustin's stepmom and dad blamed the adoptive mother. Cassie never did. She realized she had no control and learned to let go. I am adopted I understand what some parents go thru having 2 children of my own. She gave her son the gift of life. A gift she knew she could not do. She learned from herself before enetering the SO house that some things you have control over, However she needed to learn how to relive her life something she had never done before. I think Cassie did a great job and her transformation was huge and you can see it the way she carried herself doing this. The one thing that sticks out was when she was at the grave site and where she could have been if she kept going on her path but she choose differently. I wish you an open mind when you watch the reruns and maybe you will learn something you hadn't the first time

Dang LaurenB, are you the adoptive mom or what??? I cannot believe a viewer of a TV show is so hung up on repeatedly trying to convince others that there is something wrong with one of the persons from that show!!!
If you don't like her story, so be it! You said it but why drag it on, just pull Cassie over the coals again and again!!! I can't fathom the things you are saying are about a woman that many of us watched and did NOT see it the way you did!
But you are entitled to that opinion no matter what side of the coin it lands on.
Oh, what does that B stand for next to your name?
Peace.........

I did not attack you, in fact I discussed the issues, as I saw them. This is what Cassie supporter's are all about. Attacking anyone that has a different opinon. Hope personal attacks work for you. They hold no water with me!

I think a factor in all this is Cassie is a much older woman than many of her housemates.
So the amount of time Cassie spent with her life in the toilet is considerably longer than most of the other women (I don't count Kim because her "issue" wasn't nearly as tragic as Cassie's.)
I think Cassie put down the "pity me" act near her graduation. In fact, I saw her anger start setting in, which is the natural next step when dealing with loss of any kind.
I think when a housemate really gets under our skin, it means there is a similarity there somewhere between us.
Josie drove me absolutely mad, but when I stepped back and looked at her behaviour, I realized I was almost exactly the same. Even though I feel I'm not as publicly crass as Josie, all her attitude, anger, low self esteem - that's me. I feel those things every day.
Cassie dealt with things many people struggle with and some never recover from. Her years of sobriety are enough, I think, to call her a commendable person.
To pick her apart seems useless because how is that hoping the best for her?
Again, I agree that everyone has the right to just not like someone, especially if they invested all the time in watching their story. It's just good to remember the whole point of SO is forgiveness and acceptance.
To pass judgement is almost automatic in all of us - but we have the power to rise above it if we set our minds that way.

Post edited by: honeyspur, at: 2005/06/21 12:56

Well said, honeyspur. What bugs us about others may be the very thing we ourselves are dealing with. Jennifer was very upset by Deborah, but she brought up the issues in her own life that she had to deal with. Without her there, it was harder for Jenn to be in touch with what she had to deal with.
I was irritated with Cassie at times. I grew to love her progress, and really cheer her on in the end. I totally took to heart what Dr. Stan told her, you can't drive a car forward, if you are looking out the back seat. Glance in the rear-view mirror a few times, to avoid accidents, but keep your eyes forward.
Her story gave me confidence to go forward with my own life, and not stay in the "poor me" trap.

I am going thru the same progress kinda like cassie i'm trying to get my ged as well. She seems like a really nice lady. Yeah she's older than the rest of them but, she really is a sweet woman on the show.

Some of these points were very well said and I agree with most of them. Cassie was somewhat annoying to watch when she came in but she grew so much. She gained so much self worth and was able to see her own potential. I really hope we get to hear an update on her.
