Graduation reruns... 2 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
Could not find a Jodi thread to post on, sooo....
I'm really enjoying seeing all the graduations again, especially all the clips recalling the "journeys." I found Jodi to be one of the most interesting and complex HGs. The process was hard for her, but I truly believe she found a real sense of personal peace...it was written all over her at graduation. To see her strength transformed into a more positive...and self accepting...force , was really a joy. Ms. Iyanla was TOUGH on Jodi, so to see the affection between them was truly heartwarming. You can end up depising your best teachers...at the time!!! I remember a few!!! Always wish that I could contact them now to say..."I got it!!" Like IV...the best teachers are always able to "put it in a nutshell"...those phrases that come back to you in a tough situation...I call them hundred watters!
Jodi was a perfect example of outward success and inner turmoil, a good reminder not to judge those who SEEM to be better off...or as my Mother would say...we all bleed.

Guess this thread can be a catch all for graduations, soooo....
Enjoyed Sommer's also!! What a transformation...in spirit as well as physical appearance. The defensive and closed off young woman who entered the SOH has come into her own. Especially enjoyed Renee's remarks re all the work Sommer had done ...between... her 2 stays there, proving that "seeds were planted" anyway!!
My only concern was that Sommer still tries to hold back her tears...instead of letting the emotion flow. I remember how that struck me during her first stay..."if only she could really let herself cry it out !" Maybe she did that...between. I also love to hear of friendships continuing post SO!!

I know! When I realized that they would be mainly showing graduations to round off the reruns, I was not that enthusiastic...until I realized that the "before" clips were a really good way to remind us how these women struggled to get to that point!!!

Sommer's speech was very humbling, and heart felt. She has transformed into a beautiful young woman. I saw a young woman who entered the SOH as a lark, and then I saw a woman who actually did start over.

Yes, I would agree with that, obviously! And I'm sure a lot of the HGs "got more than they expected in the SOH!!! This changing business is hard emotional WORK! Sort of like a stripping down and rebuilding....with those darn "head tapes" being the hardest to "adjust."
