It was soley because she'd had a bout with breast cancer, if which Mary Ellis Bunim died, that Jonathan Murray invited Allison to be on Starting Over in the first place. And, it was probably because of Allison's entertainment background, primarily on cruise ships, that he knew of her.

How do you know that Jonathan Murray himself singled her out?

It sounded like Allison had been back in Charlotte since 1999 or so.. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in Feb. of 2004..

This link will give you an overview of her career...

According to it..she left New York..in 96 and wound up in New Orleans..and then went back to Charlotte in 99.

I think she had to have been found some other way by the SO crew.. Maybe they were trying to find a younger woman dealing with this as a health crisis..

Oops.. the link...

The women on this page of the site were part of the body hero segment of this special play production. It sounded like they highlighted a different woman prior to each evening's production.

I'd heard somewhere that Jonathan Murray invited Allison to be on SO because of her bout with breast cancer. Maybe she saw, on the SOTV website, in the Casting section, that the producers were looking for someone who'd been diagnosed with breast cancer. And, sent the most compelling video. That she considering writing a book suggests that she asked to be on the show. Like so many of the others. For their 15 minutes of fame.

Christina said at one point on her myspace that she wanted to write a book too... But that doesn't mean it will happen.

Allison has had huge changes in her health and physical body in a little more than 2 years... I am sure her head and heart are full of a lot of retrospective feelings about her dysfunction and her health crisis.. and as she says "she is a work in progress"... as we all are.

Or at least most of us!

Well, lots of people write books about life changing experiences...after the fact. Don't see how that would reflect on any of the HGs reasons for going to the SOH in the first place.
I think the desire may spring from having been helped, and wanting to pass it along. "When you learn, teach." Can't recall who said that...but it happens without writing books, just in the course of conversation...or, sometimes reading another poster's comments! Sometimes!
