Confused about expectations 2 Years, 10 Months ago
I find myself confused about what's expected when doing exercises. Whether or not hgs have the liberty to make decisions to adapt to their comfort/discomfort during the exercises. Today it was a negative that Allison didn't get outwardly angry to finding her completed board toppled. I wouldn't have shown my anger either, lest I be accused of not making progress down the path to maturity and or, wholeness. However, according to Iyanla, Allison should have been outwardly ticked. Same with the exercise with the balancing of the baskets. I was surprised when Iyanla asked why Allison didn't just drop the two other baskets since she found it tough to balance all 3. Well, helllooo!!!wouldn't that have been insurbodination (for lack of a better word)? Which is which people?

I really don't think they have any choice on the exercises. If they don't do them the way they are supposed to it affect the grades they get at the BOR. I think people's comfort level went right out the door when they signed on to a reality show.

Hmm..good point. But I think there is a difference between expressing anger because something isn't going "right" and misdirecting anger towards anyone who is around.

Last season when Tess got angry EVERYONE suffered. I think she had a right to be angry, but she didn't have a right to be mean to who ever was around.

You may recall that Kim got angry also and was encouraged to direct the anger into the plate and to break it. Both women broke plates but they were very different exprences for the rest of the houseguests.

I think Alllison needs to get angry with her cancer and all she has gone through. I think that is what Iyanla was trying to get her to do.

I'm also confused. Especially today, when Jill had to carry all of her baggage without any help from the other HGs. Aren't the LCs constantly reminding the ladies to ask for help? I understand the significance of others carrying her baggage, but it's still an exercise, and she needed help, so why can't she ask for it and receive it?

I agree that she should have been allowed to ask for help with her baggage. Who doesn't need help with their baggage now and then!!
