I have to say I'm with Jennifer I don't get why it is racist to not want ot date a black man. I think it is a prefrence . I told people I didn't want to date someone with facial hair or any one who smoked. Well low and be hold I did( i even married him) but I PICKED HIM NOT MY FRIENDS.
I feel very Naive on this subject. It was an innocent comment Sommer made to Jennifer to make her wishes know. Knowing they would pick a black man for her because of the crush on Marcus.

Towanda was all over Howard the minute he walked in the room. She thought he was hot. look at those big brown eyes. Howard was towanda's type for sure. Why was she not all over Chris he was nice looking too. I do think by what we saw Howard may have been a better choice than Chris. However, Howard seemed a little to smooth too for Sommer. She is just dipping her toes in the water, and Howard said he is looking for a serious relationship. Where as Chris was ok with whatever happens happens.

Hopefully tomorow this will be resolved.. in a calm peaceful manner. there was no malicaus intent when Sommer said what she said she only wanted her wishes known. However, Towanda took it very personal .

Howard is also 39 years old which is a little old for Sommer. He seemed to be a nice guy, but I understand she would prefer to pick . This race thing always seems to come up no matter how innocent.
Was Chole's father black?
Does that make her a racist?
Why did Towanda marry a black guy?
Does that make her racist?

This is rediculous, Sommer has shown absolutely no color prejudice.

Remember what Towanda's husband said about Sommer?
"You mean she works out?"
Was that not prejudiced against someone who is over weight. Oh I forgot that is alright.

hugs maybe it is legalities, contracts, or something of that nature. I saw somewhere over there when the boards opened up about being related to or friends of the SOGs blah-blah-blah don't know what all it said. Maybe "Dyanne" will answer back and become a contributor and opinionator on our board over here!

Besides..this blind date was just that for Sommer! It was not the "Bachelorette" show nor a prearranged marriage...it was just a date and no one said it was her Dream Man!!! She could have gone with whomever they picked for her, there was no commitment on either part, even if the dude was looking to settle down...doesn't mean Sommer had to be game for that!!!

I totally agree with everyone so far. Everyone has preferences. It doesn't necessarily mean they are prejudiced or racist. I prefer men with dark hair and eyes. Am I prejudiced to all the blond men out there? And I agree that some peoples hair is just coarser. I think there has been such a feeling of prejudiced ingrained in some people with darker skin color from early in their lives that they automatically think it of paler people even though it may not be true. I have always told my children that everyone has a different skin color but it doesn't matter. From very pale to the darkest black. Maybe someday this sort of thing won't come up. I'd like to think so.

And to Dyanne, welcome to Starting Over talk. (I'm usually called the greeter!!) We are very pleased to meet you and get your input. And I have enjoyed Sommer from day one.
