Back off her for smoking!!!!!!!!!!
She did not come to this show to be told she should quit!

YES I SMOKE and so what. I am an adult and know full well the prose and cons of smoking... AND I HAVE BATTELD WEIGHT ALL MY LIFE.
I have tried to quit twice the first time I gained 35pounds in 4weeks...
Even my husband said it was cheaper for me to smokes then buy all the Cracker Jacks, I was having instead of the cigarettes I was cranky the whole time and miserable.

Few years later I stopped for 3 months. Every day was a fight within myself. I quit because of the fear mongers at my children’s school, who told my small children their mother would die How cruel is that to do too a child of 6 years old.


I believe we are supposed to be living in a free world.
What I do is not illegal!!!!!!!!!!!! so why are we smokers treated worse then some drug dealers on the street.
You see someone smoking a join in the open and you look away..
You see me smoking in a “designated smoking area” and you give the evil-eye and say loud enough for me to hear "THAT SMELLS SO BAD,,, OR YOU ARE KILLING ME WITH YOUR SMOKE."

So lighten up on Sommers smoking and help her with what she came to the show for.

I hope Rhonda lets the subject drop now that Sommer has voiced her opnion on the subject. She wants to quit and knows what the risks are and that it is bad for her to smoke after the surgery she had. However, at this point in time she is not ready to do that. You can't give up everything in one fell swoop and be successful for any length of time.
I was proud of Sommer, standing up to Rhonda on the subject though. I don't smoke and think it is a dirty habit, but it is up to Sommer not the LC's if she quits or not. Yes shejis using as a cruch , but it is better that she learns to give up the food as a crutch and once she is succsessful at that then she can work on giving up smoking if she so wishes.

OK. I really don't want anyone to hate me for stating this. First of all, I believe they want Sommer to be healthier all the way around. But if she isn't ready or doesn't want to stop smoking they should back off. Let it be her idea after giving her the idea and information. Second of all, one of my allergies is to tobacco. Just being in the cigarette register at work makes my eyes turn red and itch, makes my throat swell up and I start to have trouble breathing and start wheesing(sp?). it happens around smoke sometimes, also. What she is doing doesn't only affect herself. But whatever she does it should be her choice.

Everyone here has an opinion, just because we do not always agree does not make any one statement less valued.

Does anyone know the added risk of smoking after gastric-bypass surgery?

I think Rhonda asked Sommer to be a 'support' for Maureen to quit due to Maureen's continual health issues.

Some people get really cranky if you bring up a smoking issue and they are smokers. I just didn't want to make any smokers mad at me. I'm pretty sensitive that way and don't want anyone to think I am thinking bad of them. Understand???
