If any of you watch The Today Show on NBC, you probably see Anne Curry doing the news and interviews. I have admired her for a long time and even wondered why she didn't get Katie Couric's postion when she left the show to host the CBS evening news.

Ann is a top notch journalist, but something has changed about her that makes me wonder what is going on within her private life. I started noticing it a few months ago. Out of the blue she would make some insensitive, inappropiate comments to the person(s) she was interviewing and then just move on like it didn't happen. It has become frequent enough now, that I wonder why NBC isn't giving her some time off. I hope there is nothing physically wrong with her.

I was noticing it for awhile when she did an interview with Bindy Erwin, Steve Erwin's daugter. She asked Bindy to look at some photographs they had on the screen. The photos were of Bindy and her dad. Bindy had this big smile on her face and then Ann asked her what she thought about when she saw those photos. Bindy said, it makes me happy when I think about my Dad. Ann said "NO, I didn't ask you about your Dad!" The child's face looked horrified that she gave the wrong answer and her smile turned to a look as if she was going to cry. It was horrible.

Last week she was interviewing a couple who just had identical quads. She never even asked basic questions like how do you determine if quads are identical, but just told them several times how horrible the experience was going to be taking care of that many infants and bascially rained on their parade.

Last week THe Today Show was doing a contest about the location of a certain place that they would give clues for and the audience was supposed to guess the place. Ann comes on the air and starts giving her guesses out loud. Matt and Al seemed stunned and tried to play it down THEN they come back from break and she is not standing there with Matt and Al. She then runs onto the camera apologizing and saying she was talking and forget what time it was.

Today she was interviewing a mother and her 2 kids. Apparently the older boy had accidently caused their car to go into a lake. (The kids inside were rescued). Ann berated the boy on the air about how he should not have done what he did to cause the car to roll into the lake. True, but not Ann's place to say during the interview. The mom seemed stunned.

What is going on with her?

I rarely see the Today show anymore..

I'd bet there might be some other people noticing though and they probably have a forum available for the shows feedback. It might be better to voice your concerns over there too.

It does sound over the top .... and it certainly isn't going to help their ratings..!

Was she filling in for Meredith? I thought she used to man the newsdesk..

Yes, her main job is the news desk, but she does a lot of interviews too. She fills in for Meredith when she is out too.

I thought about posting on their board, but I really don't want to cause a stink about her. I really don't want it to seem like I am trying to cause her trouble. I may just check it out and see if anyone else has said anything.

The thing she did to Bindy Erwin was featured on a comedy show called The Soup. Not sure if you are familiar with it. They feature odd, funny or ridiculous moments in tv or i videos from the previous week. It's pretty funny.

Glad somebody other than me noticed her attitude think they need to put her in her place.

I was trying to find a forum on the nbc boards pertaining to the show..but the only forum I found seemed to delve into shows various topics and not issues with the hosts. I guess that is their perogative to keep the scope of the forums from becoming a free for all about things beyond the show's news topics.

Tonight I did a quick search to see if I could find other forums that might mention the issue..

I guess Debby and Wish are not the only ones who've noticed the problem.. I's not quite a forum.. I did see some comments about Ann in the midst of another forum about some competitive junk going on between 2 of the morning shows. But I didn't think the link quite fit here though.. Apparently their is a lawsuit against Ann Curry and her husband. Seems they have been relentless in renovating their condo or whatever they call their homes in NYC. and being inconsiderate of their neighbors.. So she definitely has some other critics out there!

She has been sued 4 times. At least once by the owner of the tenent building next to her brownstone. They stated that the noise has made a 25 year tenent move. They also claim that the work is illegal. My question with this is ... is all 4 of the lawsuits the same person or various neighbors and if the work is illegal- have the proper building authorities been called?

I use to have a neighbor growing up that would call the cops if kids were too noisy in their backyard. She was absolutely sure that her &quot;peace and quiet&quot; were her constitutional rights and that any noise that rose above her TV (with her windows open) was both legally and morally wrong. Can you imagine summer break!
Cops stop coming at her &quot;noise complaints&quot; because of it.

SHRUGS With the way Brownstones are they are so ontop of each other I'm sure that just normal contruction can sound a lot louder than it really is. The backyards are small and sometimes made entirely of concrete- nothing to soften the noise.

I wonder if Ann just has too much on her plate and just plain tired. She seems to do wonderful work on the whole but one on one interviews are her weakness. - maybe it's the ad lib that throws her off.


As far as Bindi.. I think she's as cute as a button and even though I loved watching Steve-respect the man... I sometimes wonder if Bindi ever really grieved because I've when asked &quot;How are you?&quot; it's been &quot;I'm happy today because I am doing my Dad's work&quot; Any question gets a 'My Dad' answer. I think she's cute and smart and has that same passion... I'd love to see what direction she takes when she gets older.
