The big joke is that this is not unique to Nicole Richie... I hate saying it, but with sentences like this it may encourage people to be reckless.

They already are! Look at the people on the news......they are robbing people, killing people, using drugs, running from the cops.....and the dog thing.

Sad thing about it is that these are young people. They need to be more educated and have morals and a future set out. Not as a jail cell either.

I just wonder where and what are some of these parents doing. Why are they not involved in the kids life?

Remember.......spare the rod......spoil the child.......

I tend to often see very involved parents in their children's lives. They are caring, loving and attentive parents, but they have from an early age allowed the kids to rule over them. Whatever the kids say goes. They caudle the kids so much and cave in to their every whim, that they create monsters.

When the kids are alcoholic or drug addicts, the parents keep tolerating the abuse and never put a foot down and stop the enabling. They are told they are not doing the kids any favors by continuing to support the destructive behavior, but they just refuse to stop.

Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now. This is a sore spot with me because I have seen this kind of thing within my own family as well as close family friends. These kids usually started out as spoiled brats and then grew into "adult kids" who never took responsibility for anything in their life. It's sad to see, but I can't forget that these parents were major contributors to the problem because they had no back bone.

No, I'm not a meany and I do have compassion for those in pain, but enough is enough.

I am glad Nicole took responsibility, jail is not what they need its support and being shown right from wrong.

Yeah, I would say her attitude has been totally different than Paris'es was.. At least she had a sense of humility.. and not en_title_ment.

I'm not sure if Nicole was a repeat offender.. But driving under the influence (of anything) against traffic, sure was dangerous!

But it was pointless to actually process her for jail and then have her never make it to the cell...
