Announced this morning.. The outspoken lawyer and Birkhead apparently have severed their attorney / client relationship.

I wonder if she quit, or she was fired... I'm sure more details are sure to come up!

Today are 2 hearings in the Bahamas.. The paternity/custody issue and the follow up of the Horizons issue.

I hear that the judge in the Bahamas had ordered background checks on Birkhead, Stern and Virgie Arthur. That might have some bearing in today's hearings. I think also checking home situations.. Maybe that is why Birkhead went on a shopping spree a couple days ago!

Attorneys are not supposed to say why they stopped representing a client, but, she probably will. Usually, it's one of 2 things. THe client is unhappy because things aren't going his way or the lawyer is unhappy because he hasn't been paid. LOL.

I hope he has another attorney ready to get aboard. He should not go into these hearings without an attorney.

They are reporting that she was 'let go'.

Also mentioned that she was asked to do some things she deemed unethical..

My thought is that Birkhead did want to make a deal with Stern to hasten getting cooperation on the paternity issues or custody of the baby..

It was reported that Stern was trying to negotiate some sort of 'deal'...

If that is true... I don't think Birkhead should.. I'm sure he might be feeling pretty desperate not knowing how long this process is going to take.. He should hang tough and at least wait until these hearings are completed and the inquest into Daniel's death is conducted. There is always the possibility that Stern might be implicated in Daniel and or Anna's deaths.
I think letting Birkhead visit with the baby was a way to maybe soften Birkheads anger towards Stern.. and of course make a connection with the baby..

I'm secretly hoping that the Opri and Birkhead split is really a ploy to trap Stern. With the authorities all in on it..

One can hope... If Birkhead did make a deal with Stern... what would happen later if Stern was found guilty of being involved in their deaths?

It was alluded to that Stern wanted the house, the boat and also to be able to retain executor status.. But Birkhead can't grant any of those.. No clue if any of it true.

Harvey Levin says he knows that there was trouble brewing for some time.. and things came to a head this week. He says he also knows why they parted ways.. but can't break confidences..

I'm sure more will come out later... but as I said.. I'm secretly hoping that it's just a trap..and that the trap works..

I hear they are reconvening again this afternoon regarding the paternity/guardianship issues. (they met this morning)... Someone has alluded to the judge making the parties work together to choose a dna settlement. I might not have worked that properly, but I think they were to settle paternity issues pretty quickly. Maybe if the court knows more info about the investigations, they will lean more towards sympathy toward Birkheads camp even though Bahamian law only recognizes the father on the birth certificate. I hope we know something later today! Or at least soon!

This afternoon there will be back to back and possibly simultaneous cases... The paternity hearing reconvenes at 2...and at 3:30 in another courtroom the hearing about the ownership of the Horizons is picked back up. Maybe they expect the first one to be super quick...

Court tv is saying that Opri resigned.

TMZ.com (Harvey Levin's site) is saying that it was Birkhead that pulled the plug..

I was surprised to hear this, but maybe he just doesn't see any sense in retaining her services now that he has a Bahamian lawyer.
Some people have opined that her last filing in California was a waste of time (trying to get Stern's DNA ). That did not make any sense to me, as it's Dannielynn's that is really needed.
Could be just a matter of finances?

Just this minute heard that American lawyers have been barred from the proceedings....speculation on Court TV is that they would be under no obligation to respect the gag order! Now they say that the motion was filed by Stern's lawyer!

Its all a big mess that should not be played out in the media.
