This is one of those things I have given a lot of thoughts about this subject (and still do).
I am not making a judgement about Nancy Graces contribution to the woman's suicide or lack thereof. Just a few thoughts about this situation.

I've seen the way Nancy Grace and others like her ignores boundries to get the "confession". They can be abusive both with the person they interview and the "Power of the Media" they wield. They never feel they are responsible for anyone they run over because they are only "doing their job to get the truth out". I've seen people's lives ruined by such reporters... and never held responsible when they were wrong. You never see poeple like her help put the peice back together when they claw up the wrong tree.. they just go to the next potential story. What does wringing a confession out of a person do? Mostly glory for the reporter... a confession to a reporter doesn't hold up in some courts because the tactics used are questionable and unmonitored. Some courts might use it as a witness but not as good as if the police or prosecutor gets it.

Also.. this is from very personaly experience... hanging up the phone on someone. This is easier said than done with some people. It took my present husband to actually teach me to hang up when people were getting abusive. There are times when I am shocked over what I am being accused of and I literally don't know what to do about it other than defend myself. There was also a fear of reprisal if I did hang up - that it would only prove to them that I was guily of whatever it was or the person whould be twice as bad next time.

As far as co-operating with whereabouts...She mentioned she was advised not to divulge specific details of her whereabouts by the FBI.. If Nancy Grace was once a former prosecutor then why did she demand to know the whereabouts? She should know that sometimes you do what the investigators advise... esp if it might help them find the child. If the FBI did tell her not to devulge where she was in detail... then who is right when trying to find your child... do you listen to the law enforcement's investigator or a TV investigator? Which do you choose? Maybe she was lying about the FBI or maybe she was ashamed of something else that might be made public?

Did Nancy Grace knew she was suicidal prior to the interview??? if so... that just make her even worse in my book.
One small act of kindness can sometime keep someone from killing themselves and place in them hope. Do people see it as -that kind person was responsible for 'saving' a life?.. so could not one mean act take away hope the person was clinging to? It's a grey area in my book. Nancy didn't put the gun in her hand... but did her questioning take something away or was it shame?

She's been very wrong before... Richard Ricci.. She insisted that he was Elizabeth Smart's kidnapper without much evidence. She latched on to him and his girlfriend and didn't let up. She was judge and jury in this case. Could she have been wrong now?

I'm not quite sure what I think about this issue just yet. I watch Nancy Grace, but sometimes must turn it off due to some of her tactics that can be too extreme. As an attorney it is imperative that you keep an open mind and understand that you don't always know who the culprit is and that you don't always know all the facts
.
For example sometimes I am disappointed when Nancy blasts out at different judges because Nancy does not think they handed down a fair sentence. I wonder if she really investigates the case to discover if perphaps the case was very weak. Maybe the scientific evidence was mishandled or was not conclusive and the state is taking a plea for a lesser charge because they know they cannot get a conviction with the evidence they have to work with.

The public may not know this. So, you have a choice of letting the defendant get off completely free or taking a reduced charge. Nancy rarely explains the behind the scenes reasons that could cause some so called injustice to occur.

However, I do think it is ridiculous for the family of the dead woman to be concerned about how the father is handling the donated money!! He is the only family member who actually went out and searched for the child that I ever saw. The mother had actually fabricated false documents from her computer which she took to court and used in support of her claim that the father had made certain comments to her. The court discovered her fabrication and warned her to not to that again. However, she did it again when the child was abducted. The first thing she said was that the father had taken him.

Nancy Grace did hold the release of the info for a certain time period that the mother had been involved as an actress in porno movies. Later the police came on and admitted this was true. Nancy said they did not release that info immediately because they didn't think it could help find the child. THey believe there is proof that the child was in the house or in the room when the porno was being made. Nancy could have took off with that story right away for the headlines but didn't until the police wanted to announce it.
