I'm sorry to start a new thread on this but I couldn't find where it was last discussed as it pertained to Oprah.
On yesterday's show Oprah clarified her position on the subject. She had a guest on that had written in who had breast cancer and was using "the secret" to deal with fighting it. Oprah clarified that although she has always lived by the basic concepts of the Secret, she doesn't think it's foolproof and she doesn't consider it a "get rich quick" method.

It made me feel better that she confirmed her position because I think there are alot of good things about the philosophy that were not emphasized in the piece she did and it gave people the wrong impression of the belief system. SHe didn't say it but I think Oprah implied what I believe and that is the Secret can be used as a suppliment to whatever religious/spiritual beliefs you already hold.

Please tell me that the cancer patient was also seeking medical treatment in addition to the Secret philosophy.

Uhm, hate to say it but from what I heard, no; she was going with a more "naturopathic" and "holistic" methond. Sad to say I wasn't listening 100% to the conversation but from what I did catch, Oprah was trying to get her to please consider EVERY possible way to fight her disease., (and therefore wanted to clarify her feelings about the Secret).

I intended to look at her website today to confirm that she got through to this gal but I didn't get the chance. Perhaps I will now.

One of the things I have opened myself up to is to explore options... I don't like putting limits on myself where health is concerned. I believe the combination of good medical attention and a very positive attitude can make the difference between life and death.

I didn't intend to put down the benefits of holistic and natural treatment of disease. The route someone takes when faced with cancer is their choice, I just think it's sad to ignore the wonderful advances that have been made in cancer treatment and the many who have survived as a result.

Those that I've known who seem to have the best quality of life are ones that have a balanced view and approach to using many different venues for better health. I pray I never have to deal with this serious of a health issue.....but I am so thankful there are so many options available! I just wish they were available for all!!
