Any of you Teachers??? 2 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: 0
I have 2 (really 3, but 1 seems too unrealistic for me ) careers in mind and one of them is to teach. Is there any teachers who are from Texas that can give me some advice about the work, etc. I would like some insight on what good university you would recommend; the approximate length it would take; etc. I had some other questions but can't remember them right now. Any info would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ok, this is 5 months later, but I don't know if anyone ever answered you. I'm not a teacher in Texas, I am actually going to college to become a teacher in Florida. Elementary school to be more specific. Let me know if I can help in any way.

My ex was a teacher a couple of years ago... it took him 3 years to get his degree because he wanted to be a teacher in High Schools.

Some states now require a person to have or in the process of getting thier Masters degree in order to teach/ tenure. Some states will allow you to have your bachelors and Education Certificate to teach but you have to take some classes within a certain amount of time.

Call the local School Board or even ask the nearest college about getting the degrees. Call different county school boards too. There are some places that are hurting for teachers and other places that are hurting for money to have more teachers.

hmm also there are grants out there specifically for teachers AND there was also a loan a few years ago that if you taught in some disadvantage school area... you don't have to pay it all back... something to consider.
