Peter, When is the big day?

It might be nice to start building some traditions though.. Could just be an ornament... Or a tradition of doing something or going somewhere special.

I know some people who annually go see the Nutcracker or Handel's Messiah.. We like to watch "It's a wonderful life" every year.. and the last couple years have enjoyed watching "A Christmas Story" together as a family. I don't know why there is so much comfort in tradition! But there is definitely something to it! Maybe even make a special meal together!

I can certainly understand when you are getting ready for a big life changing event... and maybe not have the resources to do something..

Thinking about this, its really good to think about, but since its crazy time for myself right now (as in planning a wedding and all) Patti and I haven't had time to think much about the holidays. We just might not do anything for ourselves this year and get things for Patti's mom and a few friends. We will put what we can toward what we need for our new residence once we're officially one.

Hey lil bro!!! Definitely keep it small as you have such a wonderful goal ahead of you..........not much longer, eh???

Yeah, KP has the right idea.....start a little something special that just the two of you will always hold special. Definitely doesn't have to cost much, or anything!!!

KP.............speaking of moose......we collect everything mountain and northwest!! That comes from growing up here I guess.....can't get enough!! Moose are such an awesome sight, the one thing that floors you when you see your first one up close and personal is just how doggone huge they are!!! We were fishing with the kiddos a few years ago when they were much smaller and a moose was not 100 feet away around a creek bend! As usual, they are rather skittish of humans....but when you have little ones you always worry!!

Another time we were camping and our two and a friend's three kids were out at the fire pit and we adults were in the small cabin and a HUGE male with a huge rack walked thru between us and the cabin. Our kids did exactly what they were supposed to......stay still and calm!!! But we were a bit nervous they'd overreact and spook him. He walked on and we acted like it was no big deal so the kids wouldn't freak out....but us moms were just a bit worried!!

I'm thankful we were in the car and not close enough to be a threat to the mama grizzly and her 3 cubs we saw in Glacier Nat'l Park!! Ohhhhhhhhh man...........I miss that place!! So pristine and gorgeous!!!!

Okay, I got off subject about gifts.....but not really, eh?? Since we were talking about Alaska as a GIFT cruise!!! We are chomping at the bit......we watch what we can on the travel channel and nat. geog. channel about Alaska!

I'm generally a stress free person... I find buying the "perfect gift" can become very stressful. My family and I exchange special cards with loving messages. We generally go out to celebrate the occasion, or take turns making a family feast. Regarding gifts... we feel comfortable giving cash gifts, and to further alleviate pressure to spend the gift... we don't put a time limit on when to spend it... LOL Trust me... I will try to not only think up a great gift... but to have it there on time for the occasion... very stressful... not fun for me. LOL

I read something on another website that impressed me re gift suggestions:

Love Jar
52 scraps of paper... each with a different typed message telling him/her about a memory I was grateful for... put in jar w/lid wrapped with raffa and instructions around the outside.
Instructions: Open one once a week, read the message and think nice thoughts about the person who gave the gift.
Scrapbook the messages

Menus with recipes printed on back
