Thanks, mejustme

There's plenty of chat around here. This site its just as active as it was before the show ended.

Tara, not trying to start anything but this site is not even close to being as active. Just look at the Total Users. It says 1 today and 1 all week. When you look at the topics there are only new posts in like 3 parts. I am not saying it is anyone's fault, just that this is a starting over board and starting over is over. I think you really need a reality check and think about revamping the place. New title and look. If you got rid of the SO aspect of it, you might bring back some people. Otherwise you will never have more than 10 active users. It is time to move on dear.

Why don't you move on "dear"?. That one new member this week is one new member in the past 14 hours not past 7 days. We have also had 1145 new people sign up in the past month. That's pretty active to me. Most sites are not as active on the weekends as the are during the week.

Why don't you click on the stats button at the bottom of the page. It will show you how many people access the site. An average of 578 visitors per day is a very active site.

If the site is not suiting your needs I suggest you find someplace else to go. There's no point in you being here with all your negative energy.

So you are telling me that 1,145 people signed up this past month and yet about 2 of those newbies posted?????? A person only has to look at that info that you provided to see that that is NOT true. And most sites are MORE active on the weekends because people aren't at work. Plus you have 578 visitors every day and yet there are days when no one posts??? Come on Tara, I can't believe you think the people here are that stupid to think that makes sense.
See now it is just the principal of this whole discussion that is my point. This is a dying board. But you can change that and you refuse to see that. I just don't understand this. I know you will claim that I am just trying to start trouble. That is not my intent at all. Now all I want is for the nice posters that are here to realize that they are being mislead.
Just answer this one question then. Why would 578 people visit and not post? All anyone has to do is look at the board and see all the dates are in June, except the games area. Which is the only active section, but not with 578 posters.

Desiree,

Stats can be interpretted any number of ways.. This board and others that I've been involved were typically less active on weekends. I always thought it is because most people actually tended to chores and family activities on weekends... I have only been involved with 3 boards with any regularity. This one, the original SO board that the show had on it's official website and another family oriented website. I was regulars on all 3 and even the original SO board slacked off on weekends..

Since the server is the one who devised how the stats are computed and tallied.. I think it is a moot point. I've enjoyed this site mostly for the SO conversation, but also for the other varied topics that come up...

One thing I appreciate about this site... is that it has been pretty open to whoever wants to lurk or post.. as long as they behave.. The other sites you mentioned are pretty much closed communities.

And after the shenanigans at the original board last year during SO2... I was happy and very appreciative to have a moderated board to come to.

I'll be active to one degree or another as long as I find common ground with at least some other members. Discussing SO, television, movies (which would be a good topic too btw!), reality shows, etc... is a fun pasttime..

Now that the new help shows are starting this week... I think it might provide a whole new array of things to chat about!

Maybe we can have a Dr. Phil, Keith Ablow Show, and Greg Berhnart (or whatever his name is!)forums... All will be dealing with problems and issues..

Anyway, I think as long as everyone feels welcome this site can remain active.

Good luck to you whatever you decide to do....

I belong to many communities where I very rarely posts. I read the threads daily or a few times per week. I only post when some thing strikes me but I and the other community member consider me active.

I did re-check the 1145 number because it did seem very high to me. There have only been a little over 425 hundred members registering in the past month. The remainder of the 1145 must be people who are already registered who logged and and changed their profiles.

Desiree I could care less how you choose to interpret stuff here. But his site is quite active compared to many other sites I belong to.

But if you don't like you are free to leave. If you keep being so nasty the choice will not be your though.

Also please stay on topic this post was meant to be about how people heard about this site. Please begin a new thread if you feel the need to keep debating this issue. Any more posts about this topic post in this thread will be deleted.

Post edited by: Tara, at: 2006/09/11 09:55

Re:How did you hear about SOT? 2 Years ago Karma: 0
Starting Over played on my local station until 09/11/06. Then poof, it was gone. I emailed my local affiliate station and complained. The respondent explained that NBC Universal or whoever controls the main feed was the one(s) who cut the show.

I then looked for the web page (http://www.startingovertv.com) and it just took me to the NBC page. No explanation. Just no more web page.

Granted, I just moved, so I've been distracted, but I saw no advance notice (on TV) about Starting Over being canceled and the NBC page certainly has nothing about it on its homepage (at least not that I could find).

So I used the search engine to find out where everyone else had gone who used to watch it (and perhaps misses it too)... and here I am. That answers the question of how I heard about SOT... well, specifically I found it via the "winzy" search engine.

I'm really miffed at how the discontinuance of SO was (mis)handled... and I haven't figured out if I want to personally boycott sponsors, start writing letters, making phonecalls or just what to do next. Yes, I can survive without SO, but why not get rid of some of the trash on TV and leave the actual HELPFUL shows alone?

<sigh>

I feel like if it'd been a guy's show, there'd have been all kinds of notice and warnings that it was going off the air, etc. (like Tony Danza's show's having been discontinued... we heard about that for weeks). Or maybe it was simply my local affiliates that didn't include mention of the discontinuance of SO.... who knows?!?

Hi there! As a viewer, I began to hear rumblings about the show not being on any more, so I started to come to the SO site to check it out. I later received an invitation, perhaps from talking to Rhonda's people.

I really and truly miss the show.
